Introduction
Welcome to the Privacy Policy for SmartNotes, an Android application created by DreamTeam Mobile LLC ("DTM"). This Privacy Policy explains how DTM collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use SmartNotes.
Information Collection
Information You Provide
- Account Information: Email address, phone number, or Google account information when you sign up or sign in
- Notes and Events: Title, content, tags, dates, and event details you create within the app
- Audio Recordings: Voice recordings you choose to capture for transcription
Automatically Collected Information
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, and crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics
- Usage Analytics: App usage patterns via Firebase Analytics
Third-Party Services
SmartNotes integrates with the following third-party services that may collect and process your data:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, crash reporting, and analytics
- AssemblyAI: Audio transcription and summarization services
- Google Sign-In: Authentication via Google accounts
Use of Information
DTM uses the information collected to:
- Provide and maintain the SmartNotes service
- Process audio recordings into text transcriptions
- Generate summaries and extract calendar events from transcriptions
- Improve app performance and fix crashes
- Authenticate your account
Data Storage
Local Storage
- Notes, events, and preferences are stored locally on your device using encrypted storage
- Audio recordings are temporarily stored in the app cache and deleted after transcription
Cloud Storage
- Authentication credentials are managed by Firebase
- Audio files are temporarily uploaded to AssemblyAI for transcription processing
Data Retention
- Audio recordings are deleted from your device after transcription is complete
- Your notes and events remain on your device until you delete them
- You can delete your account data at any time through the app settings
Data Security
DTM takes reasonable measures to protect your information, including:
- All network communications use HTTPS encryption
- Local data is stored using Android's secure storage mechanisms
- Third-party services are selected based on their security practices
However, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
Children's Privacy
SmartNotes is not directed to children under the age of 13. DTM does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data stored within the app
- Delete your notes, events, and account
- Opt out of analytics collection through device settings
Data Deletion
To request deletion of your account and all associated data, please email us at contact@dreamteam-mobile.com with the subject line "SmartNotes Data Deletion Request" and include the email address associated with your account.
We will process your request within 30 days and confirm deletion via email. Upon deletion:
- Your Firebase authentication account will be removed
- Any cloud-stored data associated with your account will be permanently deleted
- Local data on your device can be removed by uninstalling the app
Permissions
SmartNotes requires the following permissions:
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): To capture voice recordings for transcription
- Internet: To communicate with transcription services and Firebase
- Notifications: To send reminders for events
Changes to this Privacy Policy
DTM may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of SmartNotes after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
